Jeffrey Evans established DTX in May 1983. He is the CEO and Managing Principal.
Mr. Evans started his career in Information Technology with English Electric Leo Marconi as a Diagnostic Programmer in the UK in 1965. Following this very technical position he worked for Plessey Automation on a critical time our traffic control system in another technical capacity responsible for the overall systems testing console software.
In 1968 he moved to South Africa and to a different position as a systems analyst with an insurance company.
Arriving in HK in late 1970 he worked with AIA as in-house consultant for a short contract before joining Price Waterhouse as a Management Consultant. In 1975, he set up a software house, Evans Computing Ltd., in Hong Kong which grew to 35 staff before he successfully divested it to an US services conglomerate, Planning Research Corporation.
In 1983, Jeff established his present company DTX. Until recently the company has been dedicated to technology executive search across Greater China and Asia Pacific.
In 1987, DTX set up an office in Beijing and made a hitherto undisputed claim to be the first ever foreign search firm in China.
In 1995, his firm became a member of ITPWorldwide. This fledging organization grew to fourteen strong IT search firms and in December 2000 resided within the top 2% of all search firms in the world. Jeff personally grew the Asia Pacific group from just DTX in 1995 to seven firms. In December 2000 he resigned from ITP to build "the Right People Facility". This web-based corporate non-intrusive people aid is scheduled for release around Dec 2009 though parts of it will appear before then.
He is a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Leeds University. He holds the Awards of Fellow of the British Compute Society, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers and Member of the Institute of Human Resources Managers. He is a past President of the Hong Kong Computer Society, a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, the founding Chairman of Hong Kong ITWeek and a member of the founding council of the South East Asia I.T. Organization.
Jeff is married with two daughters and has lived in Hong Kong since 1970. He is an active Christian and charity participant at St John's Cathedral being a Council Member, Chairman of the Mission and Ministry Committee. He enjoys sailing, music and football in his spare time.
On a lighter note, Jeff claims to have his picture on the cover of a George Harrison album, proving that he went to school with the Beatles.
